Some Tech Ed fun wherever you are!

These are some wild times we live in... so let's do some wild activities! Below are some fun activies you can do at home, with something for everyone!
If you do any of these, I would LOVE to see what you do and make!

Stop Motion Video!
For the uninitiated, stop motion animation is a film making technique that makes inanimate objects appear to move on their own. Think Gumby or Wallace and Gromit.
To make it work, you place an object in front of a camera and snap a photo. You then move the object a tiny bit and snap another photo. Repeat this process twenty to ten thousand times, play back the sequence in rapid progression, and the object appears to move fluidly across the screen.

Make some noise!
Below is an instructable for a series of instruments you can make at home! Ideas range from a homeade "flute" to a "saxaphone"

Medieval Madness!
If you wanted to get a little... medieval, make a really cool catapult! I admit, I've made a lot of catapults in my day, but this one is powerful, durable and easy to make!

Lets Rise Above

Got some Spaghetti, tape and a marshmallow and see how high you can build! This activity has been used throughout schools and universities around the world to teach problem solving, prototyping, design, team building and so much more!

And YOU have a fun filled day in Tech Ed!

6th and 7th graders you should know what to do!

Period 1 and Period 7: You will be completing 2 online activities! Hopefully you were paying attention when I told you what to do on Tuesday! The first will be to play my video game HERE  take 15 minutes to do so (good luck beating! remember to use magic spells on the final boss by pressing the SPACE bar)
REMEMBER as I said... if you are having trouble loading the game, you need to turn ON flash. To do that, go next to the web address (http://www.sploder.com/?s=d004jgvc) and there will be an "I" for site information.

Then after that game .... Spend the rest of the time practicing measurements by playing THIS GAME

We will be playing two rounds, one round in 8th's and another in 16th's of an inch. Both rounds will be with the timer on!

Round 1 :8th of an inch: Must get to level 3 (300 points)
Round 2: 16th of an inch: Must get to level 3 (300 points)

*When you reach at least level 3 (300+ points) show Mrs. Stevenson. Then sign the sheet and proceed to round 2*
--------------------------------------------------------------

Period 2 and Period 8: You will continue to organize your LEGO kits! (KITS are located UNDER the front table (period 2), and by the door to the computer lab (period 8)).

---------------------------------------------------------------

Period 5 and Period 6:

Sorry we need to take a day off from building our egg cars! Instead we are going to learn more about structures.... Today we will be learning and building catapults! After reading the provided hand out, break into teams of 2-3 and start building your catapult. Rewards will be given for the furthest shot!

Ahhh ol Mr. D is getting his shoulder checked out! So while I'm getting checked out, I want you to check out a great resource for coding! Code.org is a great website full of amazing tutorials, resources and games to turn anyone into a computer programmer!

For today's activity: I'm going to have everyone complete an hour of code!

Your challenge will be to complete puzzles in Minecraft, then for your final level make your own Minecraft level. To start simply click here https://studio.code.org/s/mc/stage/1/puzzle/1

I'd recommend sitting at a computer with headphones and listening- the videos help a lot!

If you finish super early try another coding challenge!
